Connecting Instructions

Introduction

Connect to the online IVAO network (IvAn) and make your Flightsim experience even more realistic. Either as a pilot or as an air traffic controller.

This module will help you with some practical instructions about how to connect to the IVAO network through the IVAO servers with the IvAp (pilot) and IvAc (controller) software.

It is a supplement to the chapters that deals with the connecting instructions in the IvAp (pilot) manuals and the IvAc (controller) manual.
Read those first!!

Further references, see: http://www.ivao.aero/softdev/

Download and install the IvAp and/or IvAc software first. Read the manuals and look hereunder at the details in "Guidelines for pilots" or "Guidelines for controllers".

Network guidelines

To have proper connections to the IVAO Network (IvAn), we'd like you to follow the following guidelines.

Voice use in general :

  • only use the servers listed on the 'Voice Servers' page.
  • always use the same Callsign on the IVAO Network (IvAn) as on TeamSpeak (TS).

ATC :

  • using voice:
    • Callsign in your ATC-client = Channel name in TeamSpeak = Callsign in TeamSpeak
      ex: KJFK_TWR in ATC-client = KJFK_TWR as channel name = KJFK_TWR as TS callsign
  • not using voice:
    • on the first line of your ATIS, insert "Text only"
  • until a pilot has filed his flight plan, assume he's not using voice (see below)

Pilot :

  • using voice:
    • Callsign in pilot-client = Callsign in TeamSpeak
  • not using voice:
    • on your Flight plan, under comments, start with '"Text only"'.
